Unicom Global Science & Technology Park of Readington Township, NJ
This whole Merck site in Readington, NJ (the largest single property in Hunterdon County, NJ) has been quite an enigma (especially for local residents).
Without getting into details – it’s been a weird quagmire for all involved. Years of debate about what to do. But regardless of what happened in the past – we’re here today – with a new tenant about to fully occupy a massive corporate complex along Route 22.
Unicom Global (the parent of 40 relatively unknown companies to most ordinary people). We recognize one company (US Robotics – our first telephone modem back in the 80s!) But since they’re a private company, we don’t know much else about them.
They get a LOT of Federal Government contracts (in the hundreds of millions of dollars). Probably why they’re not in the public sphere, as they do most of their work behind the scenes. We’re only speculating, but just throwing this out there because they reside along the backbone of this publication. There is very little public information about the actual financials of this private company.
However, once this massive office complex is fully occupied (not sure when), local businesses will be thrilled that over 4,000 people will work there! A boom for Hunterdon, we surmise. Wonder how that will affect traffic in the area – especially during “rush hour.”
Below is a presser they released last fall.
