Here’s an update regarding one of the closed Radio Shack locations over in Whitehouse, NJ.

An AT&T store is filling the space. Certainly not exciting – nor surprising, considering how everyone is literally glued to their phones morning, noon, and night.

We’re still bummed by what happened to “The Shack” towards the end. It was one of the only places (not online) that you could buy hard to find electronic components. About the only other place left that sells hobbyist-caliber parts is Green Brook Electronics.

And by the way – you don’t really need to be held captive by $100+ a month cell phone bills either. We use Mint Mobile – and pay just $180 per YEAR. The trick is to not use your phone for stupid entertainment while out and about. If you’re hell-bent on watching movies on a postcard-sized screen – you’re better of doing that at home via WiFi.
