ShopRite of Bound Brook, NJ
Like we mentioned in our ShopRite Supermarkets general post – ShopRite is absolutely the dominant supermarket in New Jersey. We expect to cover around 24 locations.
The Bound Brook, NJ location is part of the Saker ShopRite group. Out of the 24 ShopRite locations planned for NJroute22.com, only the Bound Brook, Branchburg, and Somerville locations are part of the Saker-owned group.
Here’s a bit about Saker:
“Saker ShopRite is one of the 45 members of Wakefern Food Corp., a retailer-owned cooperative. The Wakefern Food Corp is the largest cooperative in the U.S. and the largest employer in New Jersey. Wakefern is the merchandising and distribution arm for ShopRite. ShopRite stores are individually owned and operated by the members of the cooperative.
Wakefern buys, stores and delivers products to ShopRite stores. It also provides other support services. By operating within the Wakefern cooperative, the owners of ShopRite stores enjoy economies of scale associated with volume buying that they would not otherwise get on their own.
Saker ShopRite owns the ShopRites of Aberdeen, Belmar, Bordentown, Bound Brook, Branchburg, Bricktown, East Brunswick, East Windsor, Editor, Ernston Road, Ewing, Freehold, Hamilton, Hamilton Square, Hazlet, Lakewood, Marlboro, Mercer, Middletown, Montgomery, Neptune, North Brunswick, Pennington, Piscataway, Route 37 in Toms River, Somerville, Wall, West Long Branch and Woodbridge.
In addition to operating a successful retail business, Saker ShopRite also supports and partners with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.”
ShopRite Bound Brook – a reliable supermarket
Frankly – Bound Brook is sort of out of our rotation. We find the Branchburg location simply more convenient. But we checked out the Bound Brook spot for this purpose the other day – and were astounded, actually.
If you regularly go to the Branchburg location, you’d be in for a bit of “Deja Vu,” the first time you step foot in the Bound Brook location.
Eerily similar in layout to the Branchburg ShopRite.
With the exception of a few odds and ends – the entire Bound Brook store is a mirror image of the Branchburg location! I had an almost “Twilight Zone” kind of feeling. Once you get past the giant revolving door – the only one I know of at any ShopRite in our area!
Either way – it’s well laid-out, shelves are clean and well-stocked. And the staff seemed competent enough.
Plus – it’s important to know – ShopRite is the exclusive distributor of Pat LaFrieda meat products. If you haven’t tried, you’re in for a treat. We prefer the burgers and sliders. The other meat products are a bit too pricey for our budget at the moment.
I wanted to add that the parking lot in Bound Brook passes our acceptability test. That will be part of the review criteria for retail locations like supermarkets. And believe me – there are some places that are an absolute nightmare.
The address is: 611 W Union Ave, Bound Brook, NJ 08805, and you can reach them by phone at 732-302-9299.
Most ShopRites in general, are quite reliable. The Bound Brook location is no exception. Area residents should be thankful for having a good source of food. Plus the parking lot isn’t rubbish compared to most newer developments.
