Chimney Rock Plaza – Bridgewater, NJ
Opening soon in “already packed to the gills with retail” Bridgewater, NJ – is a new complex called Chimney Rock Plaza.
It’s a “two-sided” retail center with all sorts of stores and food options.
On the west side are Whole Foods as well as The Container Store and Tempur-Pedic Mattress spot.
And over on the east side of Chimney Rock Road are discounted luxury clothing stores Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off 5th. Also on the east side is Cost Plus World Market. Not sure what that is? It’s a furniture and home collections store.
Rounding off the east side are some quick food options at Chipotle, The Habit Burger Grill, and Blaze Pizza – as well as Ulta Beauty.
Nordstrom Rack opens on March 8th, 2018, Whole Foods on March 21st, 2018, and The Container Store on April 7th, 2018. The other shops should be coming online at those times as well.
Traffic concerns and too much retail?
Feelings are mixed among area residents. While many are thrilled that a Whole Foods and The Container Store will be calling Bridgewater home (instead of having to travel much further), others are concerned with the potential traffic congestion.
This stretch of highway can get quite backed up during the week.
I can see how these traffic signals – no matter how well planned – might end up being a big bottleneck. Even with no stores open, it takes quite a while to make it through the labyrinth of lights. Imagine with thousands of cars and bad drivers?
This may very well be quickly designated an “off-peak only” destination for us at least.
