Surreal Restaurants in New Jersey {IHOP, etc.}
In today’s NJroute22.com VLOG – we chime in about restaurant eating amid this so-called “crisis” of 2020.
Something very bizarre, if not sad, is happening.
We see these restaurants. Some local, some chains. This past summer they all put up makeshift tents outside to lure customers in.
Felt like a two-bit wedding event.
It didn’t look right. It reeked of desperation to stay afloat.
Take a look at this IHOP over in Phillipsburg, NJ.
What kind of outdoor seating is that? To enjoy your buttermilk pancakes with a fresh whiff of diesel fumes in a dusty parking lot? Do people need carbs that badly that they’d be willing to subject themselves to such a weird environment?
We decided a long time ago that restaurant eating was not for us anymore. No matter how fancy or expensive. Or convenient.
But this is just the twilight zone material. I guess there are still people out there that have this routine permanently programmed into their minds that they’d be okay with stooping to this level.
What are your thoughts? Is this the end of many restaurants forever?
