Review: Crook & Marker Spiked Soda {alcoholic – low-carb}
Getting ready to party this weekend? Today’s NJroute22.com VLOG talks about Crook & Marker Spiked Soda!
We have two main points to make:
- This is probably the best tasting nearly zero-carb alcohol available today. Our favorites, in order: Root Beer, Cola, Lemon Lime, Ginger Ale.
- Big CAVEAT! We’re very concerned recently about ANY “sweet” sensation – and how, whether it is low-carb or not, may quite possibly have bad effects on your body.
This soda/seltzer is ridiculously sweet. Even just drinking a 1/4 can of it (mixed with other things) is still almost too sweet.
If we feel that way being zero-sugar and zero-carb, I wonder how people who drink “full strength” cans of this stuff might be affected. Perhaps they don’t notice?
Either way – the flavor of the Root Beer and Cola are great if used properly. The Ginger Ale and Lemon-Lime were actually quite awful when consumed full-strength. Bearable when watered down. All Crook & Marker drinks, we feel, are generally WAY TOO SWEET. That is why our ideal usage is 1/4 can at a time mixed with other products (like Smirnoff Spiked Sparkling Seltzer).
But as always, your experience will vary.
Where do you buy Crook and Marker Spiked Soda in New Jersey?
The only place we’ve been able to find this (as of the time we shot the video) – was at Bourbon Street Wine & Spirits (not even all locations!) It appears to be in “limited release” at the moment.
We suspect the locations will grow as we approach the spring and summer seasons.

Remember – this is crazy sweet. We dilute it and only drink 1/4 can at a time (mixed with other stuff).
